Inhibited Ethylene Glycol Fluids
Ethylene glycol is a molecule having two hydroxyl groups on a 2 carbon chain, making it less viscous and providing slightly better heat transfer properties than propylene glycol. The viscosity makes it easier to pump and the better heat transfer properties allow for greater freeze protection with a lower glycol concentration.
Inhibited ethylene glycol is generally less expensive than inhibited propylene glycol, but is not acceptable in applications where there may be potential contact with food or potables.
Houghton Chemical formulates the WINTREX® product line, using ethylene glycol, in order to meet the needs of the HVAC-R industry. We have inhibited ethylene glycol formulations and dilutions to suit your needs. Contact us for help with your applications and for pricing and availability.
